Seeing Earth from space gives you a whole new perspective. Steven Wilson takes this transformative notion, often referred to as the “overview effect,” and crafts it into The Overview, his most ambitious project to date. The six-time GRAMMY® Award-nominated artist and Porcupine Tree mastermind is back with a 42-minute sonic journey, blending progressive rock with post-rock elements. The album features contributions from collaborators like drummer Craig Blundell, guitarist Randy McStine, and keyboardist Adam Holzman, along with lyrics by XTC’s Andy Partridge. To complement this otherworldly experience, a full-length film by Miles Skarin will accompany the album. A teaser of the record, showcasing its expansive scope, is already streaming online, hinting at the atmospheric mastery listeners can expect. Wison had to say:

This project is an exploration of life’s dualities. Beauty and insignificance, connection and alienation—these are the themes that shape The Overview.

Consisting of two sprawling tracks— Objects Outlive Us and The Overview—this new album transcends musical boundaries, weaving narratives of Earth’s beauty and humanity’s fragility. Slated for release on March 14 via Fiction Records, the album promises a signature audiophile experience, including spatial/Atmos audio. The album’s release will be celebrated with Wilson’s first solo tour in over five years, kicking off on May 1 in Stockholm. Fans in Europe and the UK can catch him at iconic venues, including a four-night residency at London’s Palladium. The album and film will debut at London’s BFI IMAX on February 25, featuring an exclusive Q&A session with Wilson. Secure your copy and immerse yourself in the sounds of "The Overview."
