From Brisbane to Brooklyn: Young Franco is redefining the global dancefloor. Globally acclaimed DJ and producer Young Franco has dropped his highly anticipated debut album, It’s Franky Baby!, out now via his label imprint. Packed with collaborations from industry heavyweights like Denzel Curry, Kah-Lo, EARTHGANG, Master Peace, and Franc Moody, this album is a vibrant exploration of genres, seamlessly blending disco, rap, funk, and Italo-disco influences into a sonic tapestry that’s both innovative and timeless. Franco’s latest single, Give Thanks, Give Praise, featuring reggae legend General Levy and rising producer Tommy Villiers, sets the tone for this electrifying album. With a sharp drum-and-bass beat, vibrant guitar plucks, and Levy’s signature vocals, the track epitomizes Franco’s fearless experimentation. Reflecting on the collaboration, Franco shared:
Working with General Levy was an absolute dream. He’s a legend who’s shaped a genre, and to have him in the studio was an honor.
He goes on to say about the album:
This project captures the people, sounds, and places that inspire me. It’s a celebration of connection and creativity, blending influences across genres and borders.
The 10-track album opens with Wake Up, a collaboration with Master Peace, inviting listeners into Franco’s world with a sunny, early-2000s electropop vibe. Tracks like Daydreaming with Franc Moody groove effortlessly into funk territory, while Stunt Like This with Kah-Lo showcases Franco’s ability to merge evocative lyrics with streetwise swagger. From the futuristic lounge vibes of Lose Control with EARTHGANG and Jafunk to the nostalgic reimagining of Moloko’s Sing It Back with Dana Williams, each track reflects a global array of influences and collaborators. The album closes on a high with “Sunrise,” a soulful, beach-ready track that brings the listener full circle. Stream the album here and let us know your thoughts in the comments.
