As the highly anticipated release of Becky Hill's new album Believe Me Now? draws near, the two-time BRIT Award winner drops her most intimate track yet, True Colours. Featuring the powerhouse artist Self Esteem, this leading single serves as the opening track of the album while tackling the deeply personal and often painful topic of sexual assault and the struggle of being believed. With raw honesty and defiant empowerment, "True Colours" is an anthem meant to inspire and uplift, urging women to speak out and find strength in their experiences. Becky Hill shares about the song:
I didn’t want it to be emotional and I didn’t want it to be angry – I’ve had years of therapy to examine that anger and not allow it to inform me, who I am. Self Esteem is an artist I’ve been a huge fan of for the longest time so I’m super excited to have her on the track as I think the song resonates for both of us. It’s also the first track on the album so you really get a taste of what is to come. I hope everyone loves it as much as we do.
Self Esteem adds:
As a huge fan of Becky it was an honour to hop on such an important track. We share a desire to turn these negative experiences into one of teaching and catharsis. ‘True Colours’ is another opportunity for both.
The album Believe Me Now?, releasing on May 31 with the help of Astralwerks, is a testament to Becky Hill's dedication to authenticity, blending her love for dance music with deeply personal narratives. Alongside notable collaborators like Chase & Status and Sonny Fodera, the album promises a rich tapestry of sounds and stories. Fans can catch Becky on her extensive tour, which kicks off with a performance at Radio 1’s Big Weekend and includes multiple sold-out shows across the UK and the US.
