Running through the dark, no way out, no control—just instinct. Bob Mould returns with a ferocious new single, Neanderthal, a high-energy sprint through chaos and survival instincts. The track serves as the latest preview of his upcoming 15th solo album, Here We Go Crazy, via Granary Music and BMG Records. Written as a visceral depiction of instability and confrontation, Mould channels raw tension into a power-pop explosion, backed by longtime collaborators Jon Wurster (drums) and Jason Narducy (bass). Mould explains:
I imagined a child raised in an unstable home, always in a fight-or-flight situation. ‘Neanderthal’ is a frantic sprint through darkened hallways littered with tension and conflict. As the song nears the end, subconscious voices emerge—one soothing yet unsettling, the other violent and reactionary. It’s a fight-or-flight song.
Stereogum praised his last album Blue Heart song as:
...vintage Bob Mould—a concise power-pop jam with a soaring melody and a whole lot of muscle.
Produced by Mould at Electrical Audio in Chicago and mixed at Tiny Telephone in Oakland with engineer Beau Sorenson, "Here We Go Crazy" refines Mould’s signature sound with simplicity, brevity, and clarity, while tackling themes of control, chaos, and resilience. Mould will embark on a US headline tour beginning April 1 in San Diego, hitting major cities like San Francisco, Seattle, Chicago, New York, and Washington, DC. Special guests include Craig Finn, Poster Children, J. Robbins, and Winged Wheel. With "Here We Go Crazy," Mould proves once again why he remains a powerhouse in alternative rock.
