Sometimes a song grows up when you do. In a deeply personal reimagining of one of their most beloved tracks, Dawes releases Time Spent In Los Angeles (For Altadena), a moving tribute to resilience, memory, and community. This special rendition features haunting contributions from Andrew Bird and Alan Hampton, and was produced live in one take by Mike Viola at his Echo Park Studio. For the Goldsmith brothers — Taylor and Griffin — this isn’t just a song, it’s a part of their recovery. Taylor Goldsmith shared:

Griffin lost his house and I lost our studio. The song means all sorts of different things to us now.

Released through Dead Ringers and Secretly Canadian, the new version serves not only as a powerful musical statement but also as a fundraiser for MusiCaresLos Angeles Fire Relief Effort, supporting those affected by January’s devastating Southern California wildfires. After performing a slowed-down version on Jimmy Kimmel Live! just days after the fires, the band knew they needed to give that raw moment a permanent home. Listen to “Time Spent In Los Angeles (For Altadena)” and watch their live performance on Jimmy Kimmel. Connect to Dawes on INSTAGRAM, FACEBOOK, TIKTOK, TWITTER, and YOUTUBE.
