Eric Cannata Shares Dreamlike Visual For “There You Go Again”

Written By: Big C

Eric Cannata, guitarist, songwriter, and founding member of Young The Giant, unveils There You Go Again. This soulful track sets the stage for his highly anticipated solo debut, Holding Onto The Holy. Accompanied by a cinematic music video shot on 16mm film, the song blends 60s-inspired production with modern storytelling. Directed by Taylor Thompson, the video captures a surreal journey through a Laurel Canyon-inspired dreamscape, reflecting the interplay between creativity and relationships. There You Go Again embodies Cannata’s signature mix of introspection and vintage charm, offering listeners an emotional and sonic escape. Describing how vintage instruments like his Fender Coronado guitar and Solina String Ensemble synthesizer helped shape its nostalgic yet fresh sound, Cannata shares:

The song opened up a period of musical exploration in solitude. The lyrics allude to the ebb and flow that comes along with profound love.

“There You Go Again” marked a turning point in Cannata’s creative process, inspiring the rest of his upcoming album. Ahead of the January 24 release of "Holding Onto The Holy," Cannata will perform two solo acoustic sets opening for Young The Giant’s sold-out anniversary shows at West Hollywood’s historic Troubadour on January 19 and 20. These special events will feature full performances of Young The Giant’s acclaimed albums Young The Giant and Mind Over Matter.
