I still got a love affair with the sound of music in the air. New Orleans music legends Galactic and the GRAMMY®-winning Soul Queen of New Orleans Irma Thomas, have released their latest collaboration, Where I Belong. From their forthcoming album, Audience With The Queen alongside Tchuop-Zilla Records, is set to be released on April 11th. The track is a joyous reflection on Thomas’ lifelong journey in music, laced with Galactic’s signature horn-heavy funk grooves and Thomas’ unmistakable contralto that only gains more depth with time. At 83 years old, Thomas remains an unstoppable force, working closely with producers Ben Ellman and Robert Mercurio to fine-tune every lyric and melody. Reflecting on the project, she states:
It’s about what’s happening now, and now isn’t going anywhere. Through song, I want people to pay attention to what’s going on.
Mercurio added:
This is a fun song where Irma sits back and reflects on the life she’s lived. Her confidence, humor, and sheer love of music shine through every note.

Alongside this celebratory release, "Audience With The Queen" delivers some of Thomas’ most powerful work to date. The first single, Lady Liberty, arrived in January with a bold, poignant take on racial and social injustice, proving that Thomas’ voice is as relevant as ever. With "Audience With The Queen," Galactic and Irma Thomas bridge past and present, blending timeless soul, modern funk, and social consciousness into a record that speaks to history, resilience, and the heart of New Orleans music.
