High Moon Records unveils The Nest, the first-ever anthology of enigmatic San Francisco singer Jeannie Piersol, collecting vintage studio outtakes, live performances, and sought-after singles. Known for blending rock, soul, and Indian influences, Piersol was a pivotal yet overlooked figure in the Bay Area’s psychedelic scene, performing alongside members of Jefferson Airplane and fronting her own bands, The Yellow Brick Road and Hair. Featuring her 1969 cult-classic single The Nest, a hypnotic fusion of sarod, funk, and mesmerizing vocals, the compilation revives a chapter of rock history long hidden in obscurity. 5x GRAMMY®-nominated archivist Alec Palao writes:
A full 55 years since its release, ‘The Nest’ still entrances, and perhaps has now found its true place in a world where records this disarmingly ingenuous can probably no longer be made.
The Mercury News calls The Nest :
...a great introduction—or, in some cases, a reminder—of this great vocal talent.
The album also features Gladys, with backing vocals by Minnie Riperton and orchestration by Charles Stepney, alongside rediscovered promotional films from the late ‘60s. Featuring never-before-heard recordings, rare live cuts, and restored visuals, "The Nest" cements Piersol’s place in the psychedelic music legacy. Available now on vinyl, CD, and digital formats, the collection gives new life to a lost voice from San Francisco’s golden era. Let us know your thoughts below.
