Occasionally we yearn for the things we can't have anymore. Announcing his debut EP WMJ1, singer-songwriter Micheal J Woodard is ready for his roll out into the January 12th release. Ruined is an intoxicating track which focuses on the emotional fallout following a break up. In the video directed by JANUSA, the creation of abandonment finds Woodward singing over strings posted in various city spaces, graffiti backdrops, and the perennially dried up Los Angeles river. Woodward had to say:

This song means so much to me. It really taps into a vulnerable feeling that we may all be familiar with: the feeling of love and losing love. As humans we experience so many glimpses and instances of what it means to be in love and, sometimes, if we lose that love we may not know how to put that feeling into words. I hope it allows people to be vulnerable, to feel, to relate, and to hopefully find joy and a relief to know that someone out there is singing about a familiar part of their journey when it comes to love.

The American Idol top five finalist was championed by Katy Perry and later signed to her Unsub Records label. Since then Woodard has been focusing on developing an ear warming sound underneath the limelight.
