Celebrating nearly two decades of their iconic sophomore album, Midlake has announced a limited-edition vinyl reissue of The Trials Of Van Occupanther. Arriving January 17, 2025, this re-mastered classic will be available on Opaque Marigold 180-gram vinyl and feature the album's original 2006 layout and labels. To mark the occasion, Midlake has also unveiled the official music video for the album’s beloved opening track, Roscoe. Directed by Dan Fernbach and shot in Oxfordshire, England, the video is a beautifully crafted visual companion to the song’s wistful and timeless themes. Band member Eric Pulido recalls:
This video was a joy to make. We shot it during a single day while on tour in Europe, and the final scene of our feast together truly captured the spirit of the album—a celebration of life, art, and camaraderie.
Originally released in 2006, "The Trials Of Van Occupanther" quickly became a critical and fan favorite, blending elements of bucolic folk, soft rock, and hazy psychedelia. The album’s narratives transport listeners to a romanticized world filled with wistful melodies and dreamy arrangements, earning accolades from Rolling Stone, MOJO, and admirers like Thom Yorke and St. Vincent. With standout tracks such as Young Bride and Branches, the album’s re-release serves as both a celebration of its enduring impact and an invitation for new audiences to discover its spellbinding allure. Pre-orders are now live here and watch the newly released “Roscoe” music video to immerse yourself in this timeless masterpiece. Connect with Midlake on FACEBOOK, INSTAGRAM, TWITTER, and YOUTUBE.
