Monsters Of Folk, a collaborative project of Jim James, M. Ward, Conor Oberst, and Mike Mogis, have reintroduced their seminal debut album in a deluxe reissue marking its 15th anniversary. Known individually for their contributions to bands like My Morning Jacket and Bright Eyes, these musicians come together to create a unique blend of folk, pop, and psych-rock, characterized by their eclectic styles and profound lyrical depth. The reissue not only celebrates their past success but also highlights their enduring impact on the indie folk scene. Reflecting on the collaborative spirit that defined Monsters of Folk, Jim James shared:

Making this album brought me back to the same feelings I had when I first started a band, or first started playing music in general – there’s a real simplicity and excitement to playing with folks you don’t normally play with.

Each member's distinct musical perspective converged to form a cohesive artistic statement. Producer/engineer Mike Mogis played a pivotal role in shaping Monsters of Folk's sound, recording much of the album at Shangri-La and Another Recording Company. The album's diverse musical palette, ranging from country-infused melodies to introspective pop and experimental rock, reflects the band's commitment to pushing creative boundaries. Looking ahead, Monsters of Folk fans can anticipate special vinyl releases and digital downloads of the expanded edition, available now here.
