A cloud of doubt, a tide of fear, break through the ink, the path is clear. Acclaimed rock band My Morning Jacket unleashes their heavy and propulsive new single, Squid Ink. Powered by Tom Blankenship’s thundering bass and Patrick Hallahan’s dynamic drumming, the track delivers an electrifying blend of psychedelia and groove-heavy rock. The visually arresting official music video premieres today, bringing the song’s raw intensity to life. Jim James, who crafted the song during a basement jam session with Hallahan, had to say:

The idea behind ‘Squid Ink’ is that certain people carry a negativity that fills the room like a squid shooting ink into the water. It’s about trying to get out of those murky waters by believing in yourself.

The track is the second release from My Morning Jacket’s highly anticipated album is, arriving March 21 via ATO Records. Produced by three-time GRAMMY® winner Brendan O’Brien, the album marks the band’s 10th studio release and first in over three years. The previously released lead single Time Waited has already gained major traction, sitting at #11 on the AAA charts and climbing. Additionally, the band continues their partnership with environmental nonprofit REVERB, expanding sustainability initiatives at each show. Watch the official music video below.
