Set to drop February 21 via ATO Records, Patterson Hood’s long-awaited solo album

Exploding Trees & Airplane Screams is on the way. Hood’s first solo effort in 12 years is a journey into personal and collective memory. Built around dark, atmospheric instrumentation, The Pool House was inspired by a solitary night in a creepy rental.

Featuring a hauntingly cinematic music video crafted by Frances Thrasher, "The Pool House" showcases Hood’s raw storytelling paired with eerie, orchestral arrangements. With contributions from Steve Berlin, Nate Query, and Dan Hunt, the track weaves haunting textures, from flutes to strings, perfectly capturing the song's macabre inspiration. Drive-By Truckers co-founder Hood explains:

‘The Pool House’ is one of the weirdest and most twisted tracks I have ever recorded. It was off-season, the pool was algae-green, and my mind was definitely wandering.

Speaking on the album he continues:

Each solo record has made me better at what I do in different ways. This record feels like a profound departure and exploration of new creative spaces.

Produced by Chris Funk, the album features a lineup of heavy-hitting collaborators, including Waxahatchee, Kevin Morby, and members of Drive-By Truckers, further diversifying Hood’s signature Americana sound. Written over decades and pieced together during lockdown, the 10 tracks delve into deeply personal themes, including Hood’s youth, grappling with loss, and pivotal moments in his North Alabama hometown. Patterson Hood will bring his latest work to life on the Exploding Trees & Airplane Screams 2025 Tour, supported by Lydia Loveless and featuring backing band The Sensurrounders. Immerse yourself in Hood’s deeply reflective, richly layered world by grabbing your tickets, pre ordering the album, and connecting with Patterson Hood on FACEBOOK, INSTAGRAM, TWITTER, and YOUTUBE.
