Oklahoma City’s emerging slowcore sensation, some fear, delivers a deeply emotive final preview of their upcoming self-titled debut album with the release of The Faucet Does All The Crying. Out now via Rite Field Records, the single encapsulates a journey of vulnerability, exploring themes of numbness, longing, and rediscovery. With its textured instrumentation and solemn lyrics, the track solidifies the band’s rising status in the indie music scene. Branden “Bran” Palesano frontman explains:
This is one of the first songs I wrote for the album, and it was originally going to be the name for the album. I was in a place where I felt numb to everything around me. I needed to feel something, and this song was a cathartic release for me at the time. It’s me at my most vulnerable, and because of that, I felt very proud of this song.
Recorded in their home studio and self-produced, some fear’s debut album was mastered by Boone Patrello, ensuring its raw emotion is matched by a polished, atmospheric sound. The album, set to drop January 16, 2025, has already gained momentum with earlier releases like The Road, Worm, and Skin I Can’t Peel. Each track delves deeper into the band’s hazy universe of loss, longing, and introspection, showcasing their fine-tuned approach to storytelling through music. Following a 2024 packed with local shows alongside bands like Skirts and They Are Gutting A Body of Water, some fear is ready to take their evocative sound to a broader audience.
