Sometimes love is the fight, and the prize. San Diego-based retro-pop collective sullvn returns with undeniable heat on their new single The Fighter. Co-written and produced by Rome Ramirez, the track channels the thrill of romantic conflict through slick production, innuendo-laced lyrics, and a soulful full-band arrangement which drips with timeless flair. Known for their vibrant stage presence and genre-blurring fusion of soul, jazz, pop, and Latin grooves, sullvn is a sonic melting pot of elite players. Frontman Robert “Sully” Sullivan says:
‘The Fighter’ is all about that undeniable chemistry—the kind that pulls you in no matter how much you try to fight it. It’s passion, tension and surrender all wrapped up in one. Sometimes love feels like a battle, but it’s one worth fighting for and exactly what Rome and I wanted to reflect in this song.

It’s the band’s first release of the year, and one that captures the electric push-pull between passion and resistance, a sound both nostalgic and freshly seductive. Following high-energy performances across the West Coast, sullvn is slated for upcoming festival sets at BeachLife Festival and Bourbon & Beyond, and will support The Wailers this season in Venice. The current lineup features GRAMMY-nominated bassist James East, Afro-Cuban percussionist Nacho Sobres, and global sax powerhouse Tomoka Nomura-Jarvis, among others. The result? A sound that glides effortlessly from a late-night lounge to a sun-soaked beach party, always grounded in feel-good storytelling and undeniable musicality.
