The dynamic Summer Salt delights fans with their latest release, Electrolytes. This album, their fifth LP, offers seven tracks of tight, summery trop-pop that perfectly encapsulates the essence of the season. Produced by Carlos de la Garza , "Electrolytes" marks an exciting new chapter for the band under their new label, AWAL. The album arrives just in time to celebrate the upcoming ten-year anniversary of their debut album, Driving to Hawaii. Matthew Terry, the band's singer and guitarist, shares insights on the focus track Ribbons:
Love isn’t just a feeling but a choice, to navigate both the highs and lows with someone. ‘Ribbons’ symbolizes this commitment. We craft our love story with multicolored typewriter ribbons because love isn’t only a beautiful, unconfined emotion; truly loving someone means embracing challenges as well as joys. It’s a heartfelt love song, celebrating the resilience of enduring love. Tell me what’s on the menu and I’m in the kitchen, acknowledging faithfulness to the journey. Tongue in cheek lines, like ‘Creatures of the Living Room,’ convey the authentic, relaxed nature of a cozy, romantic relationship. One of the first gifts we bought together was a Remington multicolored key typewriter, allowing us to draw out our days in vivid color.
Carlos de la Garza’s production brings a confident, with each song in the album is a manifesto, a theme of nature painted in different colors and flavors. In support of "Electrolytes" and the ten-year anniversary of "Driving To Hawaii", Summer Salt will embark on a six-week tour starting September 5 in Houston at the Last Concert Café. This tour will feature both long-time fans and new listeners alike, celebrating the band’s ongoing journey and musical evolution. Be sure to stream the album here and let us know your thoughts below.
